The Wish
by Marilyn Vice

The man that he had idolized

Stood by his side that night

And from within this tiny one

There glowed a brilliant light

The child, a perfect replica

Of he who stood so tall

So deftly mirrored every move

So rare for one so small

Each eye was fixed upon the pair

While holding back a tear

And in each face, the story told

That love was everywhere

And all the boy had suffered through,

The trials that lay ahead

Were on that night forgotten and

Replaced by joy instead

He shared the spotlight graciously

As only he could do

The gift he gave this little man

To Make A Wish come true!

The Wish, is really special.  I went to the AC concert and witnessed Clay's gift to John.  It was sad and sweet and I felt privileged to have been there that night.  Marilyn

 "A Special Guy"

There once was a time when fairy tales were not true.
However, this man was as real as the ocean is blue.
He may have seemed like a dream,
But he was real, and as bright as when the sun shines its beams.

This special guy has a voice of gold.
This is what he was always told.
He never, this special guy, to us was apart.
He stays forever enchanted in our hearts.

He showed us the way to true love.
This special guy was as peaceful as a dove.
He made us look at wonderful without the lust.
All in all, this special guy captivated us.

Wherever he went, he was revered as a gorgeous guy,
And whenever he winked, girls swooned and delightfully sighed.
This special guy left us spellbound, and with a wave of his arm
We were instantly enthralled by his alluring charm.

This special guy has a magnificent voice,
And this fact made him America's choice.
When he sang we were mesmerized and awestruck.
Clearly this guy has a special talent, and not just luck.

This special guy was also kind,
And this forever was kept in our minds.
He did not let the fame get to him,
And without his adoring fans, he said, he could never win.

This guy was generous and as sweet as can be.
This was something everyone could see.
He is charitable and a believer in God,
And when asked if he loves kids, he would just plainly nod.

This special guy loves his fans, also known as Claymates.
These wonderful people, he said, he would never hate.
'Cause we are some of the people who love him the most,
And for this, we'll stand up and give him a toast.

To all of us this guy is the best,
And he stands out from all the rest.
With his talent he's reaching high
And that's how I'll end my poem about a very special guy.

How to Measure a Man

We watched for weeks,
some unknown number,
as the geek from Raleigh changed
into the 8th world wonder.

He stole our hearts,
with a single note,
he even inspired this poem,
that I, Nora, wrote!

His grace is amazing,
as is his charm.
His accent is endearing,
the sound never causes harm.

I may be younger than most,
but he's made me into more,
He's given me God
as a reason to live for.

His undeniable faith
is understated, to say the least.
Whenever he sings,
he gives our ears a feast.

To meet him,
now, that would be heaven,
I'd probably forget my name,
I'd say I was Kevin!

Oh, the Grease hip shake,
from side to side,
when Simon said it was "horrible"
WOW! Guess what? He lied!

The red leather jacket,
that matched the Steve Madden shoes,
Clayton, with us,
you never can lose!

You're forever #1
in our hearts and our homes,
I mean, we spent three hours for you,
dialing on our phones!

You've broken records,
which we're only too happy to do again.
Clayton, you make us feel
like we've made a brand new friend.

You refuse to be vulgar,
as many people are.
We don't have to worry,
when we listen to you in the car.

Clayton, this is your night,
and every night from here on out.
We know you'll do great things
with your kind of clout.

To sum things up,
as best as I can,
Clayton you've shown us,
exactly how to Measure a Man.

A Voice Out of Clay

He appeared without warning,

An amusing sight to see.

Until out came a voice.

Beautiful, ironically.

Thank you for the sunlight
Thank you for the moonbeams
Thank you for the window
Into what it all means
Angels turn on headlights
Gasping in intensity
Reflecting in the delight
I can feel the best of me
Eyes fluttering awake
Life leaps strategic lengths
Hope is the very keepsake
Inspiring Human Strength
At times we call on angels
we peer into eternity
One may be before us
singing joyous melodies
Could he be a simple merchant
A provider of deep care
A chorus through a window
An angel's voice is here
To open up the window
To secret joyous places
Sometimes you hear the angel
In windowed modern places.

'Twas the Night of the American Idol Finale
(As told by a Clay Fan)

'Twas the night of the American Idol Finale, when all throughout the tube
We heard the question, “Will it be Clay or will it be Ruuub?”;
Our votes were all cast as we dialed with care,
In hopes that our Clay would be the next Idol there;

We anxiously awaited our wish to come true,
But if Clay were not chosen, what then would we do?
Watching the message boards for the latest news,
Every fan knew it was Clay they should choose,

The show finally started with Ryan, the host,
He would announce who had gotten the most.
We were getting impatient and starting to shake,
Always waiting till “after the break”.

Song after song, and the only one worth hearing,
Bridge Over Troubled Waters, left our eyes tearing;
When, what to our wondering ears should we hear,
But an answer to the question soon would be near.

Listening with heavy hearts as the results were in,
Wondering if Clay Aiken would win.
More rapid than eagles his announcement came,
As they whistled, and shouted, Ryan called him by name;

Ruuuben Studdard!   But how could it be?!
Clay is the one with the talent, don’t you see?!
Whether the voting was fair or not,
Clay’s single was already in the #1 spot.

So maybe the crown was not put on his head,
But Clay walked away with something better instead.
The heart, the voice and the fans who adore.
Any album he puts out we will buy in the store.

Now we build websites to honor his name.
Clay’s normal life will never be the same.
He has given our world more beauty, and everyone knows,
When you are special, that’s how it goes.

Whatever he does with his hair doesn’t matter,
He’s adorable whether it’s spiked up or flatter.
He can dress all in leather, he can wear geeky shirts,
It makes no difference to us, we love him so much it hurts.

Clay Aiken is our American Idol for sure,
His talent and love for life is so pure.
Please don’t let him fade from out of your sight,
Go out and buy his single, "THIS IS THE NIGHT!"
